Lives and works in Nepal

The concept of my art works begins from my personal experiences and realizations. In the process it might evolve into something with completely altered approach.

In my earlier works i related my individual ideas in bigger context of society of beyond. I prefer to compare and contrast; how same thing can be perceived with multiple understandings or dissimilar forms can represent similar symbolical meanings. In 2010 i did a solo exhibition titled “In between Un common Factors “. Here I created series of sculptures. There forms depicted unification of various unrelated factors such as ant, Hindu gods and their social values . The six armed tiny creatures somehow illustrated multiple armed Hindu gods. Its was the parallel presentation of something very insignificant and icons extremely powerful in my society.

My recent ideas focus more into changes in social and environmental context of Nepal and its reaction to people living here, especially later generation. It is more about aftereffects of rapid change, cultural counter by modern technologies, colonization of agricultural land by concrete buildings and quickly vanishing water sources.

For me material should be flexible enough to convey my concepts. Therefore my working style and materials can vary accordingly. My art can traditional Nepali techniques and materials like lost wax casting, stone carving to unconventional materials like, dried fish, bottle caps, iron rust etc. I choose my materials and the techniques according to the need of my concept.
