Grobler and the Qubeka beaders have been collaborating since 2004 on various projects. The Qubeka Bead Studio (formerly known as Qalo Bead Studio) was founded by Jeanetta Blignaut from Jeanetta Blignaut Art Consultancy and is a small independent business run by three women, Neliswa Skiti, Mandisa Masina, and Nolobabalo Kanku. The group has collaborated with various aritsts over the years, but their association with Grobler is ongoing and together they have produced around thirty beaded artworks.
Grobler creates the designs for these panels either as physical collages that are then scanned in, or compose designs by combining hand drawn marks with documentation from other site-specific projects, personal snapshots and mass-media images.
Through a process of collaboration, these designs are then executed in glass seed beads. Production time of panels generally vary from four to sixteen weeks.
