Series of black and white photographs, a woman is wearing white fabric and facing a white wall. The idea started when I decided to take photos of her back and each time let her wear a new white fabric and draw on her back some flower or whatever I came up with – because I want to see the lines and the brush movement direct on her body shape. I started drawing hair oh her white fabric until she became black! Also, I started painting on the wall that she was facing until she disappeared in black.
I did this project while I was in London for three months as a resident at the Delfina Foundation in my colleague Ixsone Sadaba›s studio. She collaborated with me and allowed me to paint on her. The relation between this work and my last work is very clear because I have done much work in which I was talking about the hejab and women. I respect the hejab and I would like to see it in different way. I guess I am now in time to uncover… Maybe the challenge facing me when I produced this work was to be in a different place, where I am not used to be being, and without my tools. Those things my eyes used to catch! I am from Bahrain and here in London I didn›t find anything that inspired me so I tried to search inside my memory…
